The international congress came to Finland for the second time, with a total of 250 participants from across Europe attending during the week. The biennial congress aims to bring together researchers and experts from the Baltic Sea region to present the latest research and discuss the state, trends, and future of the Baltic Sea, as well as future research needs. The BSSC 2023 congress consisted of 10 keynote speeches, over 200 presentations based on abstracts, a poster exhibition, social events throughout the week, as well as opening and closing ceremonies. We were responsible for the scientific congress planning, project management, and overall production, including all elements of the scientific congress. | ** Comments from our client about our cooperation:** From the beginning of our cooperation, it became clear that Tapahtumantekijät had solid and extensive experience in organizing a wide variety of events. Their assistance was invaluable in defining the schedule and various intermediate and final goals of the Baltic Sea Science Congress. The expertise of Tapahtumantekijät was also highly emphasized in resolving encountered problems. Based on their extensive experience, the consultant had much to offer in meeting various performer and program needs. The cooperation and division of responsibilities between Syke and Tapahtumantekijät were clear, and the collaboration was seamless. Syke was constantly aware of the situation regarding program development, space reservations, and budget spending. The BSSC planning group met regularly, receiving appropriate updates from Tapahtumantekijät responsible person. From an external perspective, the consultant's internal organization and task allocation were excellently clear and flexible. In conference organizing, there are always moments, typically due to external reasons, when workload and schedule pressures arise. Tapahtumantekijät showed professional flexibility in these situations, while maintaining a friendly service spirit and demeanor even in tight situations. During the actual congress, Tapahtumantekijät performance was efficient, friendly, and professionally unobtrusive. Their key role in the success of BSSC received much praise from participants. The Baltic Sea Science Congress held in Helsinki in August 2023 was the 14th in order. The Baltic Sea congress, held every two years on a rotating basis, was highly successful. According to many participants, BSSC 2023 in Helsinki, with its meeting and accompanying programs, was the best ever organized.
